  WHAT HAPPENED?

  Liverpool secured the signature of the Georgian keeper last summer from Valencia but the 24-year-old is spending this season at the Spanish outfit. Now, according to Football Espana, the 6ft 5in stopper told Torres after Barcelona's 7-1 win over Valencia at the weekend that Alisson's stranglehold over the number one jersey at Liverpool was behind why he didn't head to the Reds this term.

  Torres reportedly asked Mamardashvili: "How come you didn’t go [to Liverpool] this year?”

  To which the Georgia international responded: "Alisson."

  The striker added: "Well, good luck!"

  The Liverpool goalkeeping situation is a very competitive one, with number two Caoimhin Kelleher desperately seeking to be first choice but Alisson still tops the pecking order. With Mamardashvili coming in next season, it is likely either Kelleher or Alisson could be on the move in the summer of 2025.
